Historical Society of Western Pennsylvania – Smithsonian Addition
Jendoco Construction Corporation was again selected to provide preconstruction and construction management services for the Smithsonian expansion of the Historical Society of Western Pennsylvania (HSWP)
The five-story facility contains the first floor Smithsonian wing for traveling exhibits, Western Pennsylvania Hall of Fame on the 2nd and 3rd floors, changing exhibits housed on the 4th floor and Lecture hall on the 5th floor.
This project was phased to allow different exhibits to open sequentially. The first exhibit to open to the public was the Smithsonian Gallery which opened early November 2004.
Jendoco assisted the owner with meeting both the minority participation plan as well as satisfying the complex and extensive accounting requirements due to the myriad of funding agencies.
Jendoco was also retained to serve as the HSWP exhibit liaison to coordinate the work of the exhibit designers with the base project. This effort includes assisting with LEED requirements, MBE participation, scheduling, budget maintenance, and Safety inspections.
