Duquesne University – Energy Center Chiller Expansion

Jendoco Construction served as the general contractor for the construction of the state of the art Energy Center Chiller Expansion. This facility was located underneath the existing parking garage and presented unique challenges with material deliveries due to the lack of lay-down space. This necessitated extensive coordination between the building trades in order to get the equipment in prior to enclosing the building.

The energy center used state of the art technology from the Trane Corporation to create ice during off peak energy consumption hours and then to utilize this ice to create chilled water during the peak cooling hours. This results in substantial energy savings for the University. Duquesne is the first university on the East coast to employ this technology.
