Our History
JENDOCO CONSTRUCTION CORPORATION was founded in 1957 by Peter C. Dozzi, a young Civil Engineer from the University of Pittsburgh who worked in construction in order to put himself through college. After gaining experience working for another area contractor, Pete started Jendoco in the basement of his parent’s home on Lincoln Avenue, in the same neighborhood as our current location. Pete’s father Eugene Dozzi was a carpenter and an Italian immigrant and the company’s first Vice-President. He served as Jendoco’s general superintendent overseeing all the men in the field, many of whom immigrated from Italy just to work with him.
Pete served as the President and CEO of Jendoco for 42 years and built the company on a foundation of three core values – honesty, hard work, and client satisfaction. Its these core values that led to Jendoco building and renovating many iconic Pittsburgh buildings such as Trimont, Rodef Shalom, and the Mudge House at Carnegie Mellon University, but most importantly led to the development of meaningful relationships, repeat clients, and an impeccable reputation with partners and peers alike.
Today, we continue to maintain these core values and to honor Pete’s legacy through the quality work of Jendoco and the charitable work of the Peter C. Dozzi Foundation.
