Sustainable - LEED

Jendoco Construction Corporation’s team has built a reputation as a forward thinking builder. Nowhere is that more evident than in the Green Building Practice. While LEED 1.0 was still in the pilot stage, Jendoco and the Soffer Organization chose to adapt its design and construction principles and incorporate them into the Penn Center West Building #6 Speculative Office Building. This project included a variety of innovative concepts including an under-floor air system, daylighting, recycled materials and responsible waste management. Completed four years before the first LEED certified spec office building in the country, Penn Center West Building #6 is a symbol of our region’s leadership in sustainable development.

Our commitment to sustainable building practices doesn’t stop with our clients. We incorporated them into our own office in Penn Hills. In 1999, we took an under-utilized, exterior courtyard at our location on Lincoln Road and converted it into new offices. This expansion included the use of under floor air distribution, extensive daylighting and adaptive reuse.

Some highlights of our sustainable development include:

- LEED CI Platinum Green Building Alliance’s new office.

- LEED CI Gold CORO Center for Civic Leadership, (pilot program).

- LEED EB Gold Certification for the Carriage House Children’s Center.

- LEED NC Silver for the Heinz History Center expansion - Smithsonian Wing.

- LEED NC Sliver PNC Bank Green Branch in Oakmont.

- LEED NC Silver Duquesne University’s Power Center.

NEW LEED NC Silver  The Carnegie Museum, “Dinosaurs in Their Time”

Additional LEED projects include Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business with a LEED Certification pending and Carnegie Mellon University’s Doherty Hall also with a LEED Certification pending.
