American Textile Company

Jendoco Construction Corporation recently completed the 87,000 square foot expansion and renovation to the American Textile Company at RIDC Riverplace in Duquesne, Pennsylvania. Jendoco provided pre-construction services from schematics through construction documents, yielding a GMP (Guaranteed Maximum Price) that was within the owners’ original budget.

As this is a reclaimed steel mill site, buried obstructions were encountered, but did not delay the schedule. The main structure was pre-engineered, the roof and siding had to match the 3 year old existing facility in color and profile. In addition to matching the metal components of the structure, Jendoco had to create architectural pre-cast concrete insulated panels to match existing in color, texture, and joint pattern. Jendoco and their subcontractors were able to achieve the desired results through extensive testing and mock-ups.

While the warehouse and manufacturing addition was being constructed the production in the existing facility had to be maintained.
Scheduling and coordination with owner activities was critical and discussed at weekly project meetings to ensure a seamless transition and eliminated any down time in production.

The concerted effort put forth by the project team led to a project that all team members are proud of and provided the owner, a project being completed for less than the GMP, with savings returned to them at the end of the job.
