I.W.ABEL - Elderly Housing

I.W. Abel was the first in a series of three housing facilities constructed for the National Council of Senior Citizens/USA Housing Development Corporation under HUD requirements.

The nine story masonry bearing and precast plank structure housed 71 units and a manager’s apartment. The exterior skin consisted of grid faced block, a brick central core and punched windows.

The site required soil stabilization measures to be employed to support the structure.

The facility was completed in eleven months and was completely occupied in the first month.
