Pittsburgh Cultural Trust

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust hired Jendoco Construction Corporation to transform the “Art Cinema” Theater into a modern film theater for the Pittsburgh Film.

Included in the project was the addition of a lounge and toilet rooms in the basement. This expansion required the hand excavation of two feet of earth in order to install the new concrete floor with adequate headroom.

A steel and concrete balcony was also added to increase the seating capacity.

Because of the long narrow shape of the theater, special care was taken with regards to the acoustical treatment.

The exterior facade was cleaned and the marquee sign was totally restored to the original design.
